The UAB MassFactory spin-off will present a new application which shows the best route to get to campus from any of the public transport means available.

The activities of Sustainable and Safe Mobility Week will take place on Tuesday 31 October, with the celebration of Bicycle Day, where the whole university community can participate in different activities from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.:

During these four hours, electric vehicles will be on display and available for those interested in trying them out.

The BiciUAB service will be at the Plaça Cívica that day, offering free bike repair and revisions (only new parts will be charged), as well as basic recommendations to keep the bicycles in good conditions.

At 1p.m. there will be a conference on bike safety, "Circulació i Seguretat en Bici" at the auditorium (Sala d'Actes) of the Cinema Hall, with the collaboration of the BACC. There is no need to sign up previously and all administration and services staff members can validate their attendance as hours of training.

At the same time, at the Plaça del Coneixement there will be a simulation of an overturned car to help raise awareness on the importance of ergonomics when driving, as well as safety in order to prevent any such accidents.

During the day a new application will be presented by the UAB spin-off MassFactory, which shows the best route to get to campus from any of the public transport means available.

Sustainable and Safe Mobility Week

From 23 to 27 October, the UAB celebrated the Sustainable and Safe Mobility Week, with the objective of raising awareness among the university community of the advantages of sustainable mobility (walking, bicycling, using public transport and carpooling). A series of activities will be organised throughout the week.
Until 3 November, the "UAB Mobility Plan" exhibition will be on display. The plan is the tool the university uses to improve many of the aspects of the campus and make mobility easier for people. The exhibition will be on display at the Rectorat building, the Plaça Cívica, and the faculties of Medicine and of Veterinary Medicine. Visitors to the exhibit will enter to win a folding bicycle.

All those interested in participating in the Gimcana de la Mobilitat can do so on 3 November. The starting point will be at the Vila Nord (Hotel) bus stop. A series of instructions will be given for the Gimcana and winners can opt to receive €150 gift cards from "La Maquinista".

The photography contest will be open until 6 November and participants will enter to win a three-month travel card (T-Trimestre).

In addition, the whole UAB community is invited to participate in the UAB bicycle challenge “A la UAB en bici”. Until 23 November, all those travelling to the UAB on bicycle will be able to validate the kilometres travelled for cycles and win discounts and gifts (each kilometre will be worth 2 cycles).

A Healthy and Sustainable Campus

The Sustainable and Safe Mobility Week forms part of the UAB Healthy and Sustainable Campus (SiS Campus) project. The project is aimed at all those who study and work at the university. It includes 70 highly transversal actions aimed at improving the health of the university community by fostering surroundings and habits leading to a healthy lifestyle, and by making the university a more sustainable and environment-friendly place. It is inspired in the UAB's principles and values, in the recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO) and in the proposal of action of the Catalan Network of Healthy Universities (US.CAT).

The objectives of the project are to improve the health of the university community and promote surroundings and habits which can foster a healthy lifestyle. Lowering the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the UAB and making the university more environment-friendly and respectful with the environment are also a main objective of the SiS Campus.
