A sponge cake made with locust bean flour, created by five students from the bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology at the UAB, won first prize in the Ecotrophelia España 2023 competition, organised by the Spanish Federation of Food and Drink Industry (FIAB).

The University signed a patent license agreement with Anew Medical, a US company developing innovative therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, that will allow them to work jointly and accelerate the development of the treatment so that it can enter the clinical phase. This gene therapy patented by UAB researchers protects mice against cognitive deficits associated with aging, improves motor function, and delays the onset of diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Alzheimer’s disease.

Almost 900 UAB students took part in the 38 Catalan University Championships (CCU), winning 58 medals: 26 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze. In individual sports, the UAB stood out in swimming and taekwondo, while in team sports, the UAB came in first in men's indoor football and handball and women's volleyball.
