Author: Montserrat Ponsà Fontanals, biologist and pharmacist, is professor in Cellular Biology at the UAB. She has worked in reproduction research lines and especially in chromosomic evolution. Her thesis on chromosomic evolution of the primates group was conducted by Josep Egozcue, whom she began working with in the 1970s in teaching, research and other university activities.
Summary: This book, published as part of the Biographies Collection of the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, documents the professional career of Josep Egozcue Cuixart (Puigcerdà, 1940-2006). He was the first university professor in Cellular Biology in Spain and one of the first to introduce cytogenetics into our country.
