Going Extreme. History, narratives and the threat to Europe's democracies
Description:
As part of the ARENAS (Analysis of and Responses to Extremist Narratives) project, financed by the Horizon Europe programme, the UAB's Centre for Studies on Dictatorships and Democracies (CEDID) has organised the international congress Going Extreme. History, Narratives and the Threat to Democracies in Europe, which will take place on 25, 26 and 27 September. The congress will be held at the Mirador Hall of the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona. The main researcher of the ARENAS project is Steven Forti, lecturer in the Department of Modern and Early Modern History at the UAB and researcher at the CEDID.

Conference: "Is my democracy your democracy?"
Description:
As part of the exhibition entitled "És la meva democràcia la teva democràcia?" [Is my democracy your democracy?], organised by the UAB School for a Culture of Peace in the La Model prison, a conference will take place on 28 Septmeber from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to reflect on the benefits and limitations of democracy with the help of experiences from people who have seen democratic transitions in different European countries. Innovation Day: talentful solutions
Description:
Innovation Day: solutions of talent is an initiative launched by the Molins de Rei City Council and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the Citilab and the city councils of Cervelló, Corbera de Llobregat, El Papiol, La Palma de Cervelló, Pallejà, Sant Vicenç dels Horts and Vallirana. The initiative aims to make technology available to the university community so that, thanks to open innovation and collaboration, it can work on finding solutions to new business contexts, needs and challenges.
The activity is open to all members of the UAB community, particularly to students. Participants will have the opportunity to create teams, obtain ideation and/or prototyping tools, and learn techniques and discover resources to provide an impactful idea presentation.
On 1 October an ideation session will be held, a session in which ideas will be generated based on existing business challenges. Participants will work in groups of 4 to 10 people to develop a solution proposal for the challenge they have chosen.

The autumn Comunitària
Description:
Between noon and 4 pm on October 1, the Bellaterra campus will host the autumn Comunitària. This cultural day brings together the university community in a series of recreational and cultural activities organized by the associations registered at elDirectori, the register of the UAB associative network, the student councils and the different services for the community.
You can find activities in different areas of the campus such as the fair, at the Civic Square, the SiS space or the Centre de Recursos.

Innovation Week at the UAB
Description:
From 14 to 18 October 2024, the UAB organises the second edition of its Innovation Week to open up to the surrounding organisations, showcase its innovation ecosystem and bring the technologies and innovative knowledge generated on campus closer to society.
The objective of Innovation Week is to make visible the UAB's commitment to innovation from the perspective of different agents, sectors and groups, as well as to connect entrepreneurs with the business network, the network of public-private investors and knowledge centres.
Its programme offer different spaces, activities and themes, and will generate meeting and relationship spaces between the UAB community, start-ups, companies and investors. Some of the activities are:
- Innovation Fair
- Showcase of the network of labs located in the Vallès regions
- Eines awards
- Culture, sustainability and new technologies
- Visits to campus centres and laboratories
- Science and entrepreneurship for women

Institutional inauguration of the 2024/25 academic year at the UAB
Description:
Kevin Anderson, professor of energy and climate change at the Tyndall Centre of the University of Manchester's School of Engineering, will be in charge of giving the inaugural speech of the 2024/25 academic year. The institutional event will take place on 14 October at 12 noon at the conference hall of the Rectorat building. The event will be presided by UAB Rector Javier Lafuente and UAB Social Council President Tania Nadal. The inauguration will be streamed live on the UAB YouTube channel.
