Mathematics and crystallography... a domestic partnership
Description:
Joan F. Piniella, lecturer in the Department of Geology at the UAB, will offer a seminar on the relation between mathematics and crystallography, entitled Les matemàtiques i la cristal·lografia... una parella de fet. The seminar will take place on 12 July at 12 noon at the Aula A1 of the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM), located in the Faculty of Science. It will also be streamed online through the Microsoft Teams platform. The event is organised by the UAB Service for Applied Statistics and the Statistical Modeling of Extreme Events and Health Risks project.

Closing of the UAB Barcelona Summer School's first session
Description:
Laura Santamaria, vice-rector for International Relations and Language Policy at the UAB, and Graham Mortyn, academic coordinator of the UAB Barcelona Summer School, will participate in the closing event of the UAB Barcelona Summer School's first session, which began on 25 June.
This is the summer school's ninth edition. During these three weeks, over 320 people from 58 different nationalities were able to enjoy from a list of 13 courses offered on campus.
In addition to classes, students were able to enjoy a social programme full of cultural and sports activities.

Joan Subirats to sponsor the new graduates in Philosophy, Politics and Economics
Description:
Joan Subirats, UAB professor in political science and former minister for Universities, will be the sponsor at the eighth promotion of the bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, which has been offered since 2013/14 for students studyin part of the degree in Barcelona and another part in Madrid thanks to the Alliance 4 Universities (A4U), whose members are the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The graduation ceremony will take lace Friday 12 July at 7 p.m. at the Aula Magna of the UAB Casa Convalescència in Barcelona. The event will also include a performance of the UAB Chamber Choir and speeches by UAB Rector Javier Lafuente; UPF Rector Laia de Nadal; UAM Rector Amaya Mendikoetxea; and UC3M Vice Rector for Degrees and Academic Quality Carlos Santiuste.

Welcoming session for the second round of the UAB Summer School
Description:
Laura Santamaria, vice-rector for International Relations and Language Policy at the UAB, will be in charge of welcoming the more than 300 students from 58 different nationalities participating in the second round of the UAB Barcelona Summer School, which will take place from 15 July to 2 August.
Also speaking at the welcoming session will be Graham Mortyn, academic coordinator of the UAB Barcelona Summer School.
This second round, which will last three weeks, includes 16 courses on different subjects such as economics, biology, neurosciences, etc. Almost all courses will be offered in English.
In addition to classes, students were able to enjoy a social programme full of cultural and sports activities.

Closing session of the second round of Campus Ítaca
Description:
Campus Ítaca, an initiative by the UAB organised by the UAB Solidarity Foundation (FAS) and sponsored by Banco Santander, will end this year's second round with an event in which all family members of the participants are invited to attend, and in which participants will be able to show the results of earch group's research projects. The event will take place on 16 July at 5 p.m. and will be held in both the conference hall of the Rectorat building, and the UAB Auditorium at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities.

Information session for future students with special educational needs and their families
Description:
UAB - PIUNE information session on inclusion aimed at future students of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and their families.
The session is aimed at new students with special educational needs (NESE) so that they can learn about the options available to them and the steps they need to take to continue studyin under the same conditions of other students.
