Materials that defy nature
The School of Engineering of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona houses CIMITEC, a centre pioneer in the research of metamaterials, a new generation of ultra-technology products made up of unique and controllable properties. These materials guide wavelengths to achieve optical and electromagnetic effects which would be impossible to obtain from any natural medium.

Cloenda primer torn Campus Ítaca 2009
Com cada estiu, té lloc el Campus Ítaca, un programa socioeducatiu de la UAB per a estudiants de secundària. El dijous 18, a les 18 h, a la sala d'actes del Rectorat, va tenir lloc la cloenda del primer torn del Campus Ítaca 2009. L'objectiu principal d'aquesta activitat, que patrocina Banco de Santander, és animar els alumnes a continuar estudiant després d'acabar l'etapa d'ensenyament secundari obligatori. Alhora vol ser un espai de convivència entre alumnat d'entorns socials diversos i vol potenciar l'ús del català. Hi participaran 432 alumnes de 54 instituts repartits en tres torns; el tercer torn, del 6 al 16 de juliol.
