FAQs about SCV
WHICH ORGANISATIONS CAN I SEND THE SCV TO?
FECYT has notified that the SCV can be sent to the Ministry of Science and Innovation. In 2012 the SCV was obligatory for new staff applications (Juan de la Cierva, Ramon y Cajal) and optional for projects in the National R&D Plan and for six-yearly increments.
HOW CAN I UPDATE MY SCV?
Updates must be done at source (EIN@) since any SCV with a manipulated PDF will be rejected.
WHAT DOES THE NUMBER MEAN AT THE TOP OF EVERY SCV?
This is the automatic identification number provided by the FECYT server. The number appears on all pages of the SCV.
WHY IS SOME INFORMATION IN CATALAN IF I REQUESTED THE SCV IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE?
In order to introduce the SCV we had to create some multi-language fields (specifically Previous Activities, Research Periods and Other Merits). Since these were new fields (the ones in Spanish and English) and in order that they should be displayed on the SCV we opted (in agreement with the FECYT) to copy the details that already existed in the Catalan field, but we recommend that they be translated.
WHERE CAN I SEE THE TABLE OF EQUIVALENCES THAT IS IN EIN@ AND WHICH APPEARS ON TEH SCV?
The equivalences between the SCV and EIN@ can be found on the Table of equivalences between SCV and EIN@ and it is also possible to consult the table of codes between EIN@ and those seen on the FECYT
WHY DOESN’T THE OFFICIAL RESEARCH PROJECT IDENTIFICATION APPEAR?
It is anticipated that the next versions of the SCV will contain this and the other information that appears in EIN@. In this first FECYT version it was decided that certain fields would not appear.
WHERE CAN I FIND DETAILS OF PATENTS IN EIN@?
This information does not currently appear in EIN@. The data is entered directly on the data base of our subunit. If you wish to rectify any information or add new patents please write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +34 93 5814216.
WHAT IS THE ORDER OF THE PUBLICATIONS?
On the SCV publications appear only in date order regardless of type and not by type and then chronologically as they appear in the MEC.
WHY IS THERE AN “OTHER” CODE ON THE SCV AND NOT IN EIN@?
The SCV only shows the codes specified by the FECYT. The other codes that appear in EIN@ but which are not accepted by the FECYT appear as “Others”. You can check the equivalents between the EIN@ and SCV codes on the Table of Codes.
WHY DO THE DATES SHOW 1/1?
In the FECYT specification for the SCV it is established that all dates will be entered in ddmmyyyy format (ISO 8601) and that where information about dates cannot be provided it will be entered as 01/01 of the year of the activity.
WHY DO SOME OF THE EIN@ FIELDS NOT APPEAR ON THE SCV EVEN THOUGH THE INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED?
In this first version, in accordance with the FECYT specifications only the minimum number of fields appear on the CV. In future version of the SCV new headings and fields that already exist in EIN@ will appear. Please see the Table of Equivalents to see which of the EIN@ data appears on the SCV.
