Ripollet City Council
Links to the UABThe city of Ripollet is located in the coastal plain and its name is taken from the Ripoll River. At first a farming settlement with many vineyards and flour mills, the city developed and these mills were later used to offer services to the paper mills settling into the area.
As a Mediterranean city, Ripollet offers a mild climate and rain in autumn. Thanks to the abundance of clay soil and irrigable land, Ripollet prospers agriculturally while always keeping an eye on the future.
Proof of this is the good communications network it maintains with its neighbour cities Cerdanyola del Vallès and Montcada i Reixac. In addition, it is well communicated with Sabadell, Terrassa and Barcelona thanks to highway N-150 and motorway C-58. The 19 kilometres separating this city from Barcelona means that travelling from Ripollet to the El Prat Airport takes no longer than 30 minutes.
In November 2009, the town of Ripollet showed its confidence in the international prestige of the UAB by signing a framework agreement to join the Campus of International Excellence (CEI) as an associate member.
