Cerdanyola City Council
Links to the UABFor over 40 years, the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallès is home to the Campus of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Throughout these years, generations of students and lecturing staff have lived and found a home in our city.
The presence of the University has influenced Cerdanyola, especially in the field of innovation. It is not by chance that the city is home to the Vallès Technology Park (PTV), formed by hundreds of businesses with a high level of R&D&I; to the Synchrotron Light Facility, doubtlessly the most important scientific facility in Spain; and the Alba Park, a scientific and business park currently under development which aims to be leader in the new economic profile of the country.
In all three cases, the presence of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and its associated centres have been a determinant factor in the attraction of talent-based businesses and facilities. This has been possible with the joint collaboration of city councils and active policies in this field, which have brought Cerdanyola to be recognised officially as the City of Science and Innovation, a three-year recognition conferred by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The influence of the University and collaborations carried out have helped to shape the city further in aspects such as mobility, culture, infrastructures and services; all as part of an unfinished process which continues to be under development and makes Cerdanyola del Vallès the university city.
Since November 2009, Cerdanyola has been an associate member of the Campus of International Excellence, in line with its commitment to higher education and to giving added value to its business sector.
