Specific skills
- Organize study data using a computer (read databases, apply algorithms to create variables, handle follow-ups, and restructure the data matrix) to prepare it for statistical analysis.
- Perform descriptive and bivariate analysis of study data, calculating indices and generating graphs using statistical software, considering the design that generated them.
- Recognize the most appropriate statistical models based on the hypotheses to be tested and the measurement scale of the variables involved.
- Estimate predictive models of multiple regression, binary logistic, multinomial, Poisson, negative binomial, and Cox proportional hazards, selecting the predictors they contain based on the study objectives.
- Identify the stages of developing an experimental research design.
- Apply the experimental research design appropriate to the research objectives.
- Identify the stages of developing a cohort design and a case-control design.
- Apply the cohort or case-control research design appropriate to the research objectives.
- Evaluate and justify potential biases in experimental studies, clinical trials, cohort studies, and case-control studies.
- Write a research project to obtain public funding.
Transferable skills
- Delimit the different contents of a research study that should be part of the sections of an original article or a scientific communication, and write the text.
- Read scientific articles critically from a methodological perspective.
- Master scientific-methodological terminology to understand and interact with other professionals.
- Defend and publicly communicate a scientific communication.
- Know how to communicate and disseminate research results using the appropriate channels.
