- The theory syllabus:
This consists of lectures and seminars given throughout the calendar year. The syllabus covers a wide range of gastroenterological, hepatic and nutritional pathologies.
It consists of specific classes for the students together with involvement in the day-to-day teaching activity in the Unit and in the Hospital: clinical sessions, clinical-radiological sessions, clinical-pathological sessions, seminars, etc.
It comprises 50 theory classes taught by specialists in each topic.

- Clinical practice:
This takes place at the Unit of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nutritional Support and Pediatric Hepatic Transplant, at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. Active participation in the care of inpatients and outpatients at the unit, patients in the Cystic Fibrosis Unit, and patients referred from other sub-specialties. This clinical practice is undertaken with specialists in this area and other related areas.

- Basic training in specific techniques within the specialty.
Fibreoptic endoscopy, pH metry, hydrogen breath test, stool analysis techniques, food allergy test, sweat test, manometry, urea test, hepatic function test, etc.

- Master's Dissertation
Students are assigned a research project within their specialties, and receive individual tutoring from a lecturer.

- Students join in with the normal timetable of the Unit/Hospital (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), to undertake their classes and practical training.
