In recent years neuroimmunology has been one of the fastest-expanding fields of neurology, and it is also undergoing a major change of paradigm.

In the case of multiple sclerosis, we have moved from having practically no treatments to modify the course of the disease (the only available drugs were prescribed on the basis of study methodologies that did not permit therapy recommendations based on type I evidence) to the possibility of scalable therapy thanks to the availability of different complementary drugs approved with an efficacy and safety profile .

In addition, new oral drugs have made life easier for patients, while others are less easy to manage but show great efficacy. There are similar cases in the other neuro-immunological pathologies. All this means that it is ever more important, from a practical point of view, to master the diagnosis and treatment of these pathologies, something that is no longer a purely academic matter, restricted to top-level centres. We therefore believe that this master's degree will be of interest to a large number of healthcare professionals working with neurological diseases.

The online master's degree in neuroimmunology has been created to offer all Spanish-speaking professionals the chance to undergo training of the highest level in this field. The high degree of specialisation of this course makes it necessary to open it up to a large number of people and develop its online version so as to obtain a critical mass of students.

Some subjects will be taught in English, without affecting the high standard of teaching.

Career opportunities

This master's degree in neuroimmunology will add to the skill sets of professionals who treat or expect to treat patients with these diseases, from specialists in internal medicine to primary care physicians.
The knowledge acquired will also serve to enhance the profiles of candidates for clinical or basic research positions in neuroimmunology units.
