This is a master's degree with truly innovative content. It is the first advanced training offer that deals with communication from the perspective of the LGTBI+ population. But we are talking about communication in a very broad sense. In addition to taking journalistic activity into account, we also think about other areas such as fiction, entertainment, social marketing or video games.
The increasing demand for communicators with specific knowledge about gender and queer theories is an unquestionable fact. Many phenomena point in this direction. Just as an example, we highlight a few. Many specialized media are emerging, as well as specific sections within the general media. The increase in the implementation of progressive public policies is generating the need for specialized knowledge to be able to elaborate ideas and arguments that weaken the polarized debates that arise in social networks and that hinder social transformation. Or we can also talk about the growing visibility of LGTBI+ in cinema and in television series. From the master's degree, we offer you the necessary tools to be able to build innovative and supportive discourses in all areas.
Our teaching team is made up of a group of really prepared and, above all, very diverse people. All have worked, from their research and/or professional career, around LGTBI+ realities. But perhaps their main characteristic is that many are part of these groups and are very directly involved in social movements of fight and action.
UAB masters and graduate diplomas may include or facilitate external academic internships in companies or institutions in order to help the student to achieve a level of expertise that facilitates the insertion or promotion in the workplace.
For this study programme non-curricular (optional) internships are possible:
As a UAB student, you have access to the University occupation portal, the Occupability Service, through which you can participate in selection processes for non-curricular practices as well as getting a contract. In both cases, you need to sign up to the Nexus application.
