This graduate-diploma programme helps to meet the need for professionals trained to provide both community- and hospital-based clinical care for patients suffering from diabetes mellitus and its complications: professionals who can apply correct diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic measures to respond to what is one of the greatest challenges facing health-care practitioners and institutions.

It provides young doctors specialising in Endocrinology and Nutrition, and final-year residents, with the knowledge and skills needed to care for patients with type 2 diabetes, offering medical treatment that is evidence-based, up-to-date, safe and effective.

It has a workload of 32 ECTS credits and is divided into three thematic modules: Diabetes in Early Stages of Development, Diabetes in Late Stages of Development, and Diabetes in Special Situations, followed by the Final Dissertation. Students learn both theory and practice through onsite lectures and debates and through online access to teaching content, using a web environment that keeps them in constant contact with teaching staff and the administration. In addition, three professional development seminar-workshops are held: covering clinical management, communication and publishing in Medicine.

Career opportunities

This graduate diploma allows doctors specialising in Endocrinology and Nutrition to sub-specialise in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It qualifies them to be a point of reference in this area within their own work context and to join multidisciplinary teams in hospitals or in private practice.
