This graduate diploma is aimed mainly at trainee specialists (residents in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, etc.), and focuses on basic aspects of the scientific method and the methodology of innovation, to complement these trainees' specific specialisation programmes and prepare them for future research work and/or a doctoral thesis. It serves to bridge the gap between bachelor's degree programmes and specialist professional qualifications in healthcare, and the world of research and innovation.

It provides residents in medicine and other health science graduates with training in all aspects of research and innovation, to enable them to design and conduct a research or innovation project and begin a doctoral thesis.
