PRESENTATION OF THE PRIZES OF THE 3rd EDITION (2018) OF THE "AMICS DE LES BIBLIOTEQUES" PRIZE




Jesús Moncada Estruga (Mequinensa, 1941 - Barcelona, ​​2005)

Born in Mequinensa, he moved to Zaragoza to study high school and, once completed, studied teaching. Leave Zaragoza to go to live in Barcelona and be able to devote himself to literature and painting.

Jesús Moncada is known as a writer with the collection of stories Històries de la mà esquerra, prize Joan Santamaria 1971. In 1988 he published his first novel, Camí de sirga, which achieved great success both from the public and from critics.

The heirs of the writer have assigned their personal funds to the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​being deposited in the Humanities Library. The personal collection is made up of literary works, drawings, photographs, professional documentation and press. At the moment the Library is cataloging and classifying all this documentation that soon will be able to be consulted through the web page:

Francisco Rico (Barcelona, ​​1942), Professor Emeritus of Medieval Hispanic Literatures of the UAB, has been a member of the Royal Spanish Academy since 1987, a member of the Academia Nazionale dei Lincei and the British Academy.

Francisco Rico has donated his impressive bibliographic collection to the Humanities Library. It consists of around 30,000 volumes that make a complete representation of all Western literature, with a special presence of the authors and topics that the teacher has studied throughout his career and has led him to compile exhaustively specialized bibliography, giving the collection an exceptional uniqueness.

The Humanities Library is also receiving the scientific journals of Professor Rico. Full or partial collections of magazines that help complete the collections as the professor receives them. Particularly highlight Iberida, Revista de Filología Hispánica, Lucanor or La balsa de la medusa, some of which we already have in our Magazine Room.



 
 
 

Eduardo Rojo Torrecilla, (Barcelona, ​​1953), graduated in Law from the University of Barcelona (1976) and a PhD in Law from the same university (1986).

In January 2008 he joined as Professor of Labor and Social Security Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and is currently director of the Department of Public Law and Historic and Legal Sciences of the Faculty of Law of our university.

His research activity has focused on issues related to employment policy, with special attention to the problems of vulnerable groups and with difficult access to the labor market. He has also worked on the study of the constitutional right of strike, a topic on which he discussed his doctoral thesis.

He donated his private library to the Social Sciences Library specializing in law, especially in labor law and labor relations.
