Since 2016, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona wants to recognize, with the "Amics de les Biblioteques" award, those people or institutions that have made outstanding contributions to the libraries of the University. Until now these contributions have been documentary collections on paper but with  the candidacy of the Centre d’Estudis Sociològics sobre la Vida Quotidiana i el Treball (QUIT), the  Social Sciences Library, wanted to recognize the contributions to the digital library.

The QUIT is a center with a  large and relevant scientific production, and was the first research center in the field of social sciences that opted for open science, incorporating this production to the Digital Repository of Documents of the UAB-DDD, where its collection is one of the most numerous in this thematic area, with a collection that has been growing every year since 2014 https://ddd.uab.cat/collection/quit

The QUIT began its activities in 1989 and was formally constituted as a research group in 1991. Currently its director is Dr. Joan Miquel Verd Pericas.

The centre focuses its activity on carrying out, disseminating and promoting research in the field of work and everyday life. In this research task, she is interested in considering and introducing the gender dimension, contemplating the work beyond its exclusively commercial meaning and underlining the importance of both the context and the strategies of the actors.

As a research centre it has carried out studies on the labour market, industrial relations and working conditions and the analysis of times, both nationally and internationally, collaborating with European research teams in order to add a comparative dimension to the different investigations.
He promoted and promoted the creation in 2011 of the Institute of Labour Studies (IET), of which he is a member.
