PRESENTATION OF THE PRIZES OF THE 4th EDITION (2019) OF THE "AMICS DE LES BIBLIOTEQUES" PRIZE



Miquel de Moragas i Spà is an honorary professor of the Department of Media, Communication and Culture of the UAB.

He was the founder and first director of the Center for Olympic Studies (CEO-UAB, from 1988 to 2009) and the Institute of Communication (InCom-UAB, 1997-2009).

As a researcher he has published several works on the theory and sociology of communication, cultural and communication policies, new information technologies, sports and Olympic games. His latest book is Barcelona, ​​symbolic city (2016).

In 1971, at the birth of the Faculty of Information Sciences of the UAB, he was responsible for creating the Library.

Dr. Moragas has given the University his private library, which will be integrated into the collections of the Library of Communication and General Newspaper Library. It contains approximately 3,000 books and magazines of communication, philosophy, literary criticism, history, politics and Olympic games. It is currently being cataloged.



Martí Olaya Galceran (1927-2014) was born in Barcelona in 1927. Very linked to the magazine Cavall Fort, he has been part of the editorial board since its creation.

He is a writer of children's and youth stories, he also does some translations from French to Catalan. He regularly collaborates in newspapers and magazines, such as Avui, La Vanguardia, Diario de Sant Cugat, Sierra de Oro, Santos Magazine, etc.

In 1986 he received the Jaume I de Actuación Cívica de la Fundació Lluis Carulla and in 1976 he received the Critica Serra d'Or Theater Award and the Agrupación Dramática de Barcelona Award.

José Manuel Blecua Perdices (Saragossa, 1939) is a philologist and he is the son and brother of also philologists José Manuel Blecua Teijeiro and Alberto Blecua Perdices.

Doctorate in Romance Philology, he has been linked to the UAB since 1968. He is Professor of Spanish Language. He has served as Vice-Chancellor of the UAB and director of the Publications Service of the UAB.

He has directed the Diccionario general de sinónimos y antónimos and has directed the updated of Samuel Gili Gaya's repertoire (1892-1976). Also, together with Juan Alcina Franch (1917-1998), he wrote the well-known Gramática española.

Dr. Blecua will donate his library to the UAB, which includes collections of his father, José Manuel Blecua Teijeiro, and Juan Alcina Franch. This important donation will be deposited in the Humanities Library.
