Humanities Library

Description of the collection:
Carme Bofarull Estarlich gave a small but very interesting collection of music books to the Humanities Library, which consists of about twenty books from the private library of her grandfather, the composer Salvador d'Horta Bofarull (1856-1931). Among the documents we can find a copy of the 8 volumes of the Biographie universelle des musiciens ... (1866-1868) by F. J. Fétis, as well as several treatises from the nineteenth century. The manuscripts collection was transferred to the Public Library of the Episcopal Seminary of Barcelona (BPESMB), and contains handwritten manuscripts by Anselm Barba, Salvador de Horta Bofarull, Magí Pontí, Joan Sariols and Ramon Vilanova, as well as a copy of the Stabat Mater by F.J. Haydn from Santa Maria del Mar, dated 1784, a copy of the operas Giuseppe Ed Odoardo, Gonzalvo, Melusina, written by Joan Sariols between 1844 and 1848, and his symphony Las dos lápidas del Gran Teatro del Liceo, premiered by Joan Sariols himself at the Teatre del Liceu after the fire of 1861.
