Jesús Moncada i Estruga (Mequinensa, 1941- Barcelona, ​​2005) was known as a writer with the collection of stories Històries de la mà esquerra, Joan Santamaria Prize in 1971. His second collection of stories, El cafè de la granota, was published in 1985.

In 1988, his first novel, Camí de sirga, achieved great success both from the public and from critics. It is considered one of the most important novels of the last Catalan narrative, being translated into more than a dozen languages and receiving the Joan Crexells award, the Premi Fundació d'Amics de les Arts i les Lletres de Sabadell, the Nacional de la Crítica award, the City of Barcelona award, the Serra d'Or Critics prize and being a finalist of the National Award for Literature in 1990.

In 1992 he published his second novel La galeria de les estàtues.

In 1997, Estremida memòria was published, the winning novel of the Joan Crexells awards and the Serra d'Or Critics prize.

In 1999 he published the collection of stories Calaveres atònites.

His works have been translated into dozens of languages: German, English, Spanish, Danish, French, Japanese, etc.

The collection, donated by his heirs to the UAB, is being cataloged in the Humanities Library.

Description of the collection: The Jesús Moncada Collection brings together some of his personal and professional documentation. It mainly includes manuscripts of his works, correspondence, professional and personal documentation.

The Humanities Library is working on the processing of this material, which will be available once it is classified.
