Joaquim Romaguera collection
Collection of books, magazines and thematic dossiers on cinema gathered by Joaquim Romaguera.
Joaquim Romaguera i Ramió (Barcelona 1941-2006), historian, writer, film critic, researcher and jazz enthusiast. A wise and versatile man, between 1969 and 1981 between 1969 and 1981 he was part of the team that organized the International Film Week of Barcelona. Member of honor of the Federació Catalana de Cineclubs, he wrote many articles and books about cinema, his great passion.
In 2008, the cinema themed collection of Joaquim Romaguera i Ramió was donated to the UAB by his wife Roser Vendrell and their sons, who considered appropriate that this important film document collection became part of the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives.
Collection description: it is composed of 2,902 books on cinema, particularly Spanish and Catalan cinema. The collection of journals includes the best titles on international, national and local scope. The large number of dossiers of diverse subjects gives an idea of the task of compilation that he used for his research. Dossiers about festivals, centenary of the cinematograph, Latin American cinema, precursors, screenwriters, directors, films, etc., as well as all the documentation used in its two most representative books: Diccionari del cinema a Catalunya y Silenci, rodem: història del cinema a les comarques de Girona. Some of the dossiers have not yet been analysed and can be a source of information for future research.
