Josep Egozcue i Cuixart, born in 1940 and died in 2006 in Barcelona, was one of the pioneers in Spain in the research of assisted reproduction techniques that allowed for in vitro fertilization. He was one of the founders of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He was an emeritus professor and he was Secretary General and Vice Rector of External Relations and Campus with the team of the Rector Ramon Pascual, at which time, among others, the first democratic statutes of the UAB were elaborated.

Doctor of medicine and surgery at the Universitat de Barcelona and a specialist in Cell Biology, he was Professor of Cell Biology at the UAB and directed the cytogenetics group of the Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine "Vicent Villar Palasí" (IBB). He also directed the genetic department of the Regional Center of Primates of Oregon (United States) and the Department of Citogenetics of the Institute of Citological Research of Valencia. 

Description of the collection: The legacy ceded by the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology at the Science and Technology Library includes the collection of separated articles from the research groups linked to Dr. Egozcue, as well as bibliographic resources. A total of 735 off-prints and monographs.
