Santiago Pey (Barcelona, ​​1917-2001), designer and philologist.

His work in the field of design is extensive and varied. In the late 1940s, he opened a modern furniture store and trained as a designer and interior designer. In 1959 he began in industrial design designing chairs, radios, televisions, tiles, etc. In 1964 he organized the specialties of industrial design and interior design at the Escola Massana, where he is a teacher. It is relevant also spreading its work both as a speaker, writer of several manuals DIY and decorating, as well as translator of numerous books from German industrial design in Catalan and Spanish.

In the philological field, Santiago Pey works mainly in lexicography. In 1970 he published with Emili Vallès a dictionary of synonyms and in 1972 he published the Dictionary of synonyms, related ideas and antonyms: with vocabulary of barbarisms. He collaborates in the writing of the Alexis encyclopedia and in a dictionary of synonyms in Spanish.

Description of the collection: The Humanities Library has received on deposit a small part of Santiago Pey's personal collection, most of which is deposited in the Barcelona Design Museum. The fund is made up of part of your professional documentation. It basically consists of his own work, especially typescript related to philology.
