The UAB announces a new edition of the "Thesis in 4 minutes" contest, in which the challenge is set for doctoral students to present their doctoral thesis in a maximum time of four minutes. The registration period is from March 3 to 27 (until 12:00 p.m.), and on May 17 the finalists will be presented to the court.

The contest, aimed at doctoral students in scientific disciplines, challenges them to present their research using simple language suitable for a general public in a maximum time of four minutes. Among the requirements to participate we find: to be an active student of at least the second year of a doctorate at the UAB, not to have defended the doctoral thesis on the day of the call and to acquire the commitment to be a representative of the UAB, if you are a winner, in the contest «Thesis in 4 minutes» of the Catalan Research Foundation, which will take place on June 22 in Lleida.

The contest structure is divided into two phases. First, applicants must submit their proposals through a form on the web. Next, a summary of the doctoral thesis and a presentation in video format must be submitted. As for the second phase, the people selected by the jury will have to attend a training activity that will take place on May 2 and 4, in which they will prepare for their presentation. Finally, on May 17, the finalists will present their doctoral thesis before the court.

The jury, made up of a representative of the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research, a representative of the Office of the Vice-Rector for Communication and Culture and research members from the UAB and the Permanent Board of the Doctoral School, will award the prizes, endowed with financial rewards. The first prize has a reward of €800 and the financing of the winner's trip to Lleida and the second prize is endowed with €500. On the other hand, the public prize consists of €200 and, as a novelty, this year the Joan Oró special prize for the transmission of values and entrepreneurship will award the winner a €300 reward (these last two prizes are compatible and cumulative with the prizes of the jury).
