The UAB to offer information session on Fulbright study grants

The UAB has organised an information session on 13 December to talk about the Fulbright grants being offered for the 2020/21 academic year. Information will be given on the renewal grants being offered in January and used to fund two-year stays in the United States from students enrolling in master's degrees, PhD programmes or predoctoral research conducted in any of the academic disciplines. The session will begin at 12 noon at the auditorium of the Faculties of Psychology and Arts and Humanities.

Grants will be awarded to graduates and include tuition fees, travel expenses, books and materials, living expenses, accident and health insurance. The session is addressed mainly to students in their last two years of their bachelor's degree and will be presented by Alberto López, Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission in Spain, and Sara Abad, Fulbright Spanish Scholar Program Officer. Also speaking will be Vice Rector for International Relations at the UAB Màrius Martínez.

The programme was created in 1946 by Senator James William Fulbright and since then has helped a total of 300,000 people. It receives funding chiefly from the US Congress, although it also counts on the economic support of other public and private entities, as well as funding from the countries participating in the programme. At the UAB, 227 students have already benefited from a Fulbright scholarship. In 2014, the programme received the Prince of Asturias Award in the International Cooperation category.
