The UAB improves its position in the Times Higher Education Ranking

The UAB moves up to position #145 in this year's edition of The Times Higher Education World University Ranking. The university scores higher than last year in teaching, research, citations and internationalisation.

The UAB ranks 145 in the 2018-2019 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking. that represents moving up two positions from the 2017-2018 edition, in which it occupied position 147. The university improves its score in aspects such as citations, internationalisation, quality of teaching and research.

This year the UAB once again improves its position in the category of research paper citations, an indicator of its impact in research: the university receives 92.4 points, three points more than last year. In addition, the UAB ranks 93 worldwide in this category and moves up nine points from last year's edition.

The UAB ranks 159 in teaching quality, in which the aspects taken into account include number of PhD programmes, academic reputation, institutional budget and student/lecturer ratio. In this section, the UAB scored 43.9 points, a few decimals above the score of 43.3 it obtained last year. In the field of research, the university also improved its position slightly and passed from a score of 36.1 to 36.5 points.

Another area in which the university moved up was in internationalisation, in which the UAB scored 62.2 points, 2.1 points higher when compared to the results of 2017. In contrast, funding from the business sector fell slightly and the UAB went from 42.1 points last year to obtaining 41.3 in this year's edition.

With regards to other universities in Spain, the UAB occupies second position behind Pompeu Fabra University, which ranked 135. The ranking is headed by the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, both from the United Kingdom.
