The Observatory for Equality of the UAB has published the diagnosis for the preparation of the Fourth Action plan for gender equality of the UAB (IV PAG). In 2017, the validity of the Third Action plan expired. For this reason, the development process of the new proposal started in 2018.

The development process of the Fourth Action plan has consisted of the preparation of the diagnosis, the proposal of new measures, a participatory process and the final drafting of the proposal for the new action plan. The diagnosis evaluates the degree of implementation of the Third Plan, revises the regulations in force and proposes new action measures to achieve equality between men and women in our university.

The report is structured in 7 blocks, which include the description of the situation of women at the UAB; the evaluation of the application of the plan measures by the UAB community; the current regulatory framework; and the European benchmarks on gender equality in the university. In addition, the proposal incorporates the legal changes on gender and LGTBI+ in a state level of the last years, and takes back international, European and national laws and rules approved in previous years.  A casting of documents and benchmark projects about gender equality, LGBTI+ rights and university has also been carried out.

The main resulting conclusions of the diagnosis are the empirical basis for the design of action measures that shape the Fourth Action plan. Despite the challenges, lacks and needs on gender equality that emerge from the diagnosis, there are significant advances. However, the University Impact Rankings 2019 (The World University Rankings) places the UAB in the eleventh position of the top universities in the world that promote gender equality.
