New call for participants to enter the "Thesis in 4 Minutes" competition
The challenge consists in PhD students explaining their research thesis orally in under four minutes. All those interested can present their proposals from 27 February to 21 March.
The competition “Tesi en 4 minuts”, organised by the UAB Doctoral School, offers PhD students the chance to explain their research in an oral presentation lasting a maximum of four minutes with easy to comprehend language.
Candidates can submit their proposals from 27 February to 21 March. The winning proposals will be selected by a committee of researchers and members of the Doctoral School's Permanent Board.
On 9 April all selected candidates will be notified via email. Oral presentations will take place on 16 May, in an event open to the public which will take place at the Graduation Hall (Sala de graus) of the Doctoral and Graduate School, as well as broadcast live on the university's website.
The first prize will include a cash prize of 800 euros and the second prize, 500 euros. A 200 euro cash prize will go to the best presentation voted by the audience.
Dog burial was a common funerary ritual in Neolithic populations of the north-eastern Iberian Peninsula 6,000 years ago
A study led by the UAB and the UB has analysed the largest and oldest cases of dog sacrifice and burials occurring in Catalonia, a burial practice which had become generalised throughout the Iberian peninsula during the Middle Neolithic. The research also indicated that humans fed their animals with a diet similar to their own, which included cereals and vegetables. Read more
