The crowdfunding has been successful and has collected 13,174€. The money has been distributed to 10 refugee students, who could reassume their academic training at UAB, after being forced to flee their country.

This aid is aimed to cover the expenses deriving from the studies, contributes to face the economic difficulties due to the refugee condition, and is intended to grant the continuity of the university training. It complements the Finestreta Programme that allows enrolling to university for free.

This initiative reflects the concept that education is a key element in the integration of newcomers. It also reaffirms the UAB as an institution and as a community of critic people committed to human rights. The academic training can change refugees’ perspectives of future. We invite you to listen to the experience of two students that participate in the Welcoming Programme, during their stay at the UAB: Artem and Louai.

This campaign has been well received among the university community. 120 particular funders have contributed. Besides that, the participants at the UAB Games, organized by the Physical Activity Service of the UAB (SAF), the tickets sale for a concert at Palau de la Música on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the UAB and the collection during the Friends of the UAB Party were also allocated to these grants.
