Organised at the UAB by the Neuroplasticity and Regeneration Group of the Institute for Neuroscience and the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology, the UniStem Day 2019 is a major event for the public dissemination of cell stem research in Europe.

UniStem Day was first held in 2009 and is a day for secondary school students to learn about the dissemination of stem cell science and research. It represents an opportunity to promote the discovery, learning and debate of knowledge and innovation issues related to research into stem cells and regenerative therapies.

Organised by members of the Neuroplasticity and Regeneration Group of the Institute for Neuroscience and the UAB Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology, this event displays cutting-edge research and the latest scientific advances, as well as society's expectations with regards to the use of stem cells.

Thanks also to a collaboration with the Argó Programme through the UAB's Institute of Educational Sciences (ICE), some 300 secondary school students can benefit each year from presentations, debates, videos and academic activities related to research in this field. They thus acquire an appreciation for science which can help them discovery the fun side of the field and build up a personal character based on evidence, perseverence and integrity.

As in previous editions, UniStem Day 2019 includes the participation of universities and institutes from around the world, with 99 universities from Australia, Austria, Colombia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. UniStem Day 2019 is the largest publis dissemination event to focus on stem cell research in Europe.
