Agreement sets the bases for future Hub b30 platform partners

The UAB, the UAB Research Park, Eurecat and the Àmbit B30 Association have signed an agreement which sets the bases for future partners of the Hub b30 platform. In the first stage, new partners will include leading research, development and innovation agents from the B30 region.

In this sense, the UAB's Vice Rector for Innovation and Strategic Projects Francisco Javier Lafuente said that "after the approval of our Hub meetings, the second phase starts with incorporating new partners and we currently have 14 applicants". Based on this, "we will leave our system open to all city councils or associations interested in participating in this change in the format of interacting between a society of knowledge and businesses and institutions".

The agreement also will lead to the development of projects and activities to promote platform innovation, disseminate their activities and projects, and foster debates and exchanges of experiences on the issues related to the innovation and geographical framework of the Hub b30.

Eurecat's Industrial Scientific Director Ricard Jiménez highlighted that "the Hub's task at the moment focuses on finding agile options after receiving professional training", given that "we notice that the industry has many problems in finding qualified professionals who can take on the challenges posed daily by the new technologies".

Josep Monràs, President of the Àmbit B30 Association and Mayor of Mollet del Vallès, congratulated "all those involved in this project which is now a reality and which today takes one more step to consolidate our region as a leader in the field of advanced manufacturing, fostering and facilitating the creation of economic activity and employment".  

In April 2018, the UAB, the UAB Research Park, Eurecat and the Àmbit B30 launched the Hub b30 with the objective of providing society with the technological capacities and scientific knowledge generated by the UAB Sphere and Eurecat and surrounding entities with the aim of needs and challenges in innovation of businesses and institutions, while at the same time improving their competitiveness. Since then, a total of eight very successful brunches have been held with a number of different entities.

Executive Committee

The Àmbit B30 Association's executive committee meeting this past Monday also served to present the updated version of the document detailing the association's priorities (Priorització d'actuacions en infraestructures i serveis de mobilitat del corredor de l'àmbit B30), prepared during the past months with the aim of promoting an improvement in mobility within the region. Among others aspects, the committee also analysed the tasks being conducted in the B30 region in terms of circular economy and the main sectors in which this model can be applied.
