CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR TAKING PART IN BLENDED INTENSIVE PROGRAMME (BIP) COURSES
ERASMUS+ 2021
Blended Intensive Programme courses (BIP) are short-term periods of study abroad for students and staff combined with an obligatory virtual part where participants meet on line to work together and simultaneously on specific tasks that are included in the period abroad and count towards the general learning outcomes.
This call for applications is to offer funding for the organisation of BIP courses.

Erasmus+
Erasmus+ is a European Union programme for the areas of education, training, youth and sport. The Erasmus+ funding for this call for applications from the 2021 project of the Erasmus+ KA131 2021–2027 programme. Action 1 of this programme includes mobility for students and staff from higher education institutions within the 27 member states of the European Union, the countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey. The United Kingdom is a participant in the Erasmus+ 2021–2027 programme as an associate country (associate countries are those that do not fully participate in Erasmus+ but can do so for certain parts of the programme), and so participants from the UK are not eligible to participate or receive funding.
First decision regarding the call for applications for the organisation of BIP courses
You need to be studying for a Bachelor’s degree at the UAB or at any of the affiliated centres at the time of registration and during a period on a Blended Intensive Programme, BIP, or for a Master’s degree at the UAB or at any of the affiliated centres at the time of registration and during a period on a Blended Intensive Programme, BIP.
In all cases student have to be registered for one of the BIPs offered by the UAB and in the case of the ECIU University in one of the BIPs (activities organised by the ECIU University) offered by the ECIU University as a whole. The centre in which the student is studying must also have the approval of the exchange coordinator from the centre where the short-term BIP will take place.
For exchanges during the Bachelor’s degree students must have passed 60 ECTS credits at the time of applying, with the exception of students of Translation and Interpreting, East Asian Studies and Spanish and Chinese Studies: Language, Literature and Culture at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting for periods within- the Erasmus+ programme who must have passed 60 credits at the beginning of the mobility period.
Students must also have sufficient knowledge of the academic language of the destination university and be able to accredit having medical and civil responsibility insurance.
For short-term BIP studies the minimum stay is 5 days and the maximum is 30 days.

BIPs offered by universities with an agreement with the faculties and schools of the UAB. Check with your centre.
The following table shows the amounts of financing according to the sources and destination countries:

*Additional allowance for students with difficult backgrounds who fulfil the following 3 criteria:
- Be recipients of general Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports grants or grants awarded by the Basque Department of Education during the academic year immediately prior to the year in which they are applying for mobility.
- Be refugees with the right to subsidiary protection or have applied for international protection in Spain and be studying for a PhD.
- Have a legally recognised and qualified disability of 33% or more.

To apply for these short research periods (5 to 14 days) on a Blended Intensive Programme, (BIP) students must have applied to take part or be registered for a BIP meeting or event.
For short-term BIPs the minimum period is 5 days and the maximum is 14 days. Students may not take two consecutive BIPs at the same destination.
For the 2021-2022 application period a maximum of 5 months of financial assistance is allowed for each PhD student.
Students may take a total of 12 months for each study cycle (see section 8).
Research periods must be taken within the 2021-2022 academic year.
The amount of the grants for short-term BIP periods (5 to 14 days) is as follows:
- SEPIE grant from the European Commission: €70 a day for individual support..
- Travel allowance: 1 day before and 1 day after individual financial support.
- Additional allowance for students with difficult backgrounds (*): €100 per stay.
(*) Additional allowance for students with difficult backgrounds who fulfil one of the following 3 criteria:
- Be first year PhD students who receive the general community fund grant from the Ministry of Education and Professional Training.
- Be refugees with the right to subsidiary protection or have applied for international protection in Spain and be studying for a PhD.
- Have a legally recognised and qualified disability of 33% or more.
A new call for applications is open for the 2021-2022 academic year for short-term BIP periods:
- First Outcome: 20 April for applications received from 23 March to 8 April 2022
- Second Outcome: 15 July 2022, for applications received from 9 April to 15 June 2022.
- Third Outcome: 15 December 2022, for applications received from 16 June to 31 July and 1 September to 15 November 2022.
