UAB and UB to Host POLLEN 2026: Confronting the Polycrisis Through the Stories of Political Ecology

From June 29th to July 3rd, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Barcelona (UB) will co-organize an international conference to explore how narratives of resistance can shape more abundant and just futures. The event will bring together more than 1,500 researchers, activists, and representatives of civil society organizations.

White roofs and urban parks reduce heat in cities, but do not offset extreme global warming

The implementation of reflective white roofs and new urban parks can significantly reduce temperatures in cities and decrease population vulnerability to heat waves, although these measures are not sufficient to counteract the projected increase of more than 6 °C by 2100. This is demonstrated by a recent study led by ICTA-UAB.

Climate change will profoundly alter the dynamics of sea and land breezes in the Barcelona metropolitan area, trapping larger amounts of air pollutants over coastal areas and increasing health risks for millions of people. This is the conclusion of a study conducted by ICTA-UAB, Spain, which produced high-resolution projections of future sea and land breeze behaviour and air quality under climate change scenarios for 2050 and 2100.
