Ideal student profile

The Master's degree in Regional and Population Studies is designed for graduates with previous training in Geography, or in other areas of the humanities or social sciences (History, Anthropology, Sociology, Economics, Political Sciences and Tourism) interested in qualified training to become researchers specialising in spatial planning and demography.
The specialisation in Spatial Planning, Social Development and Land Management is oriented towards a wide range of graduates, including those with engineering and architecture degrees and diplomas. The specialisation in Demography also includes students from degrees in statistics and mathematics and those with qualifications in the sciences and in engineering.

You must have a capacity for innovation, organisation, time management, communication, and for inter-disciplinary and team work.

  • Apply critical concepts and advanced theoretical approaches to the study of land use and population
  • Apply the different methodologies of geographic and demographic analysis at different territorial levels and population sizes
  • Analyze and interpret the interrelationship between population dynamics and historical and recent territorial transformations
  • Using the techniques of projection and mapping for the design of future scenes.
  • Assess the impact of the framework laws, economic, political and social in the demographic and territorial dynamics.
  • Design projects of urban and regional planning using figures and methodologies appropriate territorial scales.
  • Detect the complexity of territorial and demographic dynamics and recognize the most efficient management mechanisms, particularly in conflict situations
