"Feel Good" workshops

The AEQUALIS study is carried out through the Feel Good workshop, aimed at groups of 12 people of 60 years or over who perceive their own health as regular or poor. The workshops take place in primary healthcare centres in the urban areas of Barcelona (Sants-Montjuïc, Horta-Guinardó, Sant Martí and Nou Barris), Reus, Cornellà, Blanes and Lleida. The workshop session last 2 hours and take place once a week for a period of three months.

The workshop is offered by nurses and social workers who have received prior training and preparation from the research team. At the session there are also 1 or 2 professionals from the primary healthcare centre present as observers.

The sessions deal with aspects related to physical activity, emotions, nutrition, social relations, participation in the community, personal autonomy and relations with the health care staff. The sessions also include trips around the area of the primary healthcare centre: a healthy stroll, a trip to the local market or supermarket and a visit to a social and cultural centre.
During the session we also work with specific dynamics such as drawing up a map of social participation in the neighbourhood, the creation of a group mural to illustrate the experiences of the group, adapted physical exercises and personal health-related action plans.

The aim of the session is the same as their name:  Feel good.
