Writing in a "country without bookstores"

Exposició

New bibliographic exhibition of the Humanities Library

Equatorial Guinea became independent from Spain in 1968. During colonization, Barcelona served as a colonial metropolis and many Catalan families exploited the territory economically. Now, this African country lives under one of the longest and most repressive dictatorships in the world, that of Teodoro Obiang, a military man trained in Zaragoza.

This exhibition, directed by Lupe Romero and coordinated by Mar García and Asociación Fora de Quadre, brings together a sample of books by Guinean authors and is the culmination of all the activities that have been carried out at the UAB within the cycle of events and conferences "Equatorial Guinea and the Catalan colonial past": https://foradequadre.org/projectes/cicle-guinea-equatorial-i-el-passat-colonial-catala-a-la-uab/, a project where the UAB wants to reflect on the impact on the present of our colonial past.
