For the third year in a row, the UAB libraries placed us in first place in the Ranking of Spanish University Libraries (SECABA-Rank) that evaluates the efficiency of libraries in the Spanish university system. The UAB Libraries Service has been advancing positions since the first editions of the ranking and, in recent years, has always been among the first six places. This year's edition, which revalidates the first position, is based on data for the year 2018.
The SECABA-Lab of the University of Granada is the creator of this ranking that compares the efficiency of Spanish university libraries and where the UAB appears as the head of the list. It is elaborated from second level indicators with a methodology based on the general theory of systems.

The source of data analyzed by the ranking is REBIUN, the sectorial one of the CRUE that deals with libraries and that publishes the statistics of the Spanish university libraries every year. REBIUN is formed by the libraries of the 76 universities of the CRUE (50 of the public university sphere and 26 of the private university area) and the Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC).

The methodology that follows is based on an evaluation with a quantitative and empirical basis, and from a systemic approach. The ordering of the libraries in the ranking is based on what they call the "system power index", which relates the input power, based on the budgets, with the power output, based on the in-person query of documents , home loans and documents downloaded from the digital library for users.
