Exhibition "The silent revolution"

Cartell La revolució silenciosa 75 anys dela invenció del transistor

The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) opens this exhibition on the 75-year history of the transistor at the Science and Technology Library

05/12/2022

Today's world would not be understood without the transistor. This semiconductor electronic device is responsible for the fact that today we have mobile phones, computers, washing machines... but also hearing aids, pacemakers, cars... The digital and ultra-connected society owes much of its raison d'être to the transistor.

«The 75th anniversary of one of the most important inventions of the 20th century deserves an exhibition claiming its importance and at the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC), as a reference center for microelectronics throughout the State, we feel hyper-motivated to do it», said Xavier Jordà, IMB-CNM researcher and content coordinator of the exhibit.

The silent revolution is an initiative of the IMB-CNM-CSIC, with the support of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology · Ministry of Science and Innovation (FECYT).

And it will be installed until January 12, 2023 in the exterior showcases of the Science and Technology Library. Come to visit it!
