Campaign of the Science and Technology Library to make women of science more visible

05/02/2021

The calendar has a date designated for women and, especially, for scientists: the #11F.

February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and, to commemorate it, the Science and Technology Library and the Equality Commissions of the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Biosciences have programmed the #CientífiquesCitenCientífiques campaign through the Twitter account @Bctuab.

Between December 9 and January 15, women from both faculties, whether they are students, teachers, researchers or administrative staff, were invited to recommend a book or article related to Women and Science, and written by a woman.

And, due to the number of participants, the readings will be tweeted between February 11 and 26, and collected on the campaign website.

At the same time, the Library will talk about #WomenInScience throughout this week, recalling the previous campaigns developed by the BCT, the women who have dedicated themselves to ornithology, and the figure of the UAB professor Cristina Vicente (1948-2000), great specialist in the zoology of arthropods.

In addition, the #ScienceAndPoetry section of Twitter @Bctuab will dedicate every Saturday of the month to reviewing the poetic side of many female scientists.

We encourage you to participate in the different events that have been organized everywhere to celebrate #BeWiSeDay2021, and to know the recommendations of the  #CientífiquesCitenCientífiques through social networks.
