Ramon Margalef, a life of ecology

Exposició Ramon Margalef
In the centenary of its birth, the Science and Technology Library celebrates it with a new exhibition

12/12/2019

Ramon Margalef has been the biologist and Catalan naturalist with the most international influence and one of the most important of the 20th century. A scientist of self-taught formation, infinite curiosity and a great capacity for work, whose work has inspired new generations of ecologists and ecological thinking of the 21st century.

The Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) and the Science and Technology Library have organized an exhibition that aims to bring the life of Ramon Margalef closer to the university community from fragments of its unpublished autobiography and highlight its main contributions to ecology. This exhibition wants to be the contribution of the Library to the various events that have been programmed throughout 2019 to celebrate Margalef Year.

The show is complemented with the Game of the Soca, installed in the lobby of the Library and ceded by the Diputació de Barcelona. The game was devised by Margalef to explain in a fun way the concept of ecological succession of Mediterranean forests.

Both the exhibition and the game can be visited until the end of January 2020.

We'll be waiting for you!
