Millions of years of history on stage

Exposició sobre l'Institut Català de Paleontologia
The ICP Miquel Crusafont exhibits in the Science and Technology Library a small selection of the country's paleontological heritage

06/02/2019

Catalonia, despite its small size, has one of the richest palaeontological heritage in Europe. As much by the scientific meaning as by the patrimonial one, its deposits are a referent at world-wide scale.

The Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont has installed a temporary line in the exhibitor of the Science and Technology Library that begins with the printing of a footprint dated almost 300 Ma from Alt Urgell and reaching the Miocene (around 11 Ma ) with skulls located in Els Hostalets de Pierola (Anoia). The exhibition also includes other replicas of archaeological pieces, such as a marine reptile from La Pedrera de Alcover (Alt Camp), an egg and a caudal vertebra of two dinosaur species, and the ribs of a Sirenio (current dugong).

The exhibition, open until March 4, wants to publicize the exceptional fossil record of the Catalan territory and highlight the research that is derived from it among the ICP Miquel Crusafont.
