In order to work in a biosafety level 2 facility (BSL2) it is a requirement to have taken the courses "Introduction to biosafety" and "Use and maintenance of biological safety cabinets". In case of not being able to attend the classroom-based course on the  scheduled dates, online courses (in English or French) created by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) can replace these. Prior enrolment is necessary and, on passing the course, a personalised certificate can be downloaded for submission to the IBC. For information on equivalence between the IBC and the PHAC courses consult the validation table.
