Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC)
DescriptionThe Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC) is a biomedical research centre dedicated to discovering the mechanisms behind cancer processes. Through the combination of original research and partnerships with other organizations the IMPPC will be a major contributor to the change to a new model of predictive and preemptive medicine.
Research at the centre includes studies in genetics, epigenetics, genomics and proteomics carried out be a multinational and multi-disciplinary team of scientists. It is based on the Can Ruti Campus and forms part of the Germans Trias i Pujol Health Sciences Research Institute, a health research institute accredited by Carlos III Institute of Health (ISCIII).
The IMPPC has cutting edge Genomics and Bioinformatics platforms and is in the process of building a DNA Bank.
Links to the UABThe IMPPC is a member of the UAB-CIE Sphere. Its state-of-the-art Genomics platform and biomedical research laboratories are part of the network of associated research centres. Members of staff contribute to bioscience courses and doctoral students studying biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Genetics carry out their practical work at the centre.
Strategic research areasCancer Genetics & Epigenetics Program. Study of the effects of major oncogenic pathways, DNA and epigenetic modifications on differentiation and tumorigenesis
