The first conference will be online and given by Alba Toll, doctor in psychiatry from the UAB and psychiatrist at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. With the title Psychosis: what is it, how and why it occurs?, she will analyse the causes of this mental disorder, characterised by a certain loss of contact with reality and mainly affecting young people.
It is a fairly common disorder, and it is estimated that 3 out of 100 young people will suffer a psychotic episode. There are various theories about its cause, but there are still many unanswered questions about the pathophysiology of this disorder and about more reliable prognostic markers and markers of response to treatment.
