  • NEO: Bacteria to decontaminate aquifers

    UAB's researchers have found a bacterium that can help to clean up contaminated waters. After three years’ research, they have shown these bacteria's capacity to transform some of organochlorine compounds that are frequently found in aquifers into harmless products.

  • Nanoporous materials

    Nanoporous materials are similar to sponges, but made out of metas or oxides. Important aplications have already been discovered in the field of chemistry. Researchers from the Department of Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona are working to find new environmental applications for these highly promising materials.

  • Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases

    The Institute of Neurosciences of the UAB investigates several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.   • Research cruise in the Mediterranean
