Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

You will become an engineer capable of solving challenges by designing the best product, choosing the most adequate materials for each industrial application and planning the product's manufacturing process

General information

As a Mechanical Engineering student, you will specialise in the manufacturing of industrial-related products (machinery, structures, auto parts, etc.), taking into account the need for a design which surpasses existing problems, knowing and choosing the ideal materials, planning the manufacturing and controlling the quality of the finished product, while at the same time taking into account its environmental impact. You will conduct this process thanks to a series of advanced simulation tools for circuits, computer-assisted 3D designs, numerical simulations and simulations of computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM) processes. You also will be capable of organising and directing the production of a company and its commercial and technical sectors, as well as being officially recognised as having the professional attributes of a Technical Industrial Engineer.

At the Salesian University School of Sarrià (EUSS) you will be accompanied on your journey to becoming an engineering through our «Engineering by doing» method, which is based on learning by acquiring competences and applied in accordance with the most suitable teaching methods, and in which project-based tasks and and work placements are an essential part of the degree.

Career options

On completing the degree graduates can work in highly important sectors of mechanical engineering such as construction, machinery, metallurgy and the car industry.
Some of the professions open to graduates are:

  • Construction, assembly and maintenance of any industrial installation in the mechanical and thermal area.
  • Design and testing of new products or machine parts using CAD programs.
  • Study using finite elements and CAE programs, simulations and the manufacturing of special and prototype pieces.
  • Programming of robots and obtaining numerical control programs using CAM systems.
  • Areas of management, organisation, planning, quality and environmental consultancy services, and sales in companies operating in this field.
