The Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering aims to train up expert computer science professionals with a holistic approach to technology that allows them to analyse, design, develop and deploy computer systems for various environments and situations, adapting to change and to technological innovations.

The UAB provides general training in all fields of computer science, and students can also specialise in four different training profiles, depending on the technology field: software engineering, computer engineering, computational science, and information technologies.

The close ties with technology centres and advanced research centres of high national and international repute, and with leading ICT businesses, make for a high level of training and increase graduates' employment opportunities. Among the centres linked to this programme on the university campus are the Computer Vision Centre, the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute and the National Microelectronics Centre.

Computer Engineering can also be taken jointly with the Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering.

Student Profile

The ideal student for this course should have the following qualities.
  • A solid grounding in mathematics, preferably from previous studies.
  • Capacity for logical thinking and organisation.
  • An interest in technological advances and research (desire to innovate).
  • Ability to adapt to new situations, methods and technologies.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Imagination, curiosity and creativity.
A good level of English is recommended.

This allows you to choose from a wide array of opportunities such as application programmer, web developer, database administrator, systems analyst, program architect, IT consultant, project manager, mobile app developer, community manager, network and systems administrator, SEM/SEO specialist, knowledge engineer, functional analyst, information architect, information system security officer, video game designer, web administrator, etc. You will also be able to choose from other professions which have not been invented yet, but which you will be fully prepared for given your global training which will allow you to adapt to all types of technological changes and innovations.
