  • Catalonia's first in vitro calf

    In order to preserve the genetic quality of dairy cows that produce large quantities of milk, researchers at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona have managed, for the first time in Catalonia, to gestate an in vitro produced calf.

  • The discovery of frozen tombs

    A European research group made up of anthropologists and archaeologists of UAB and Paul Sabatier University of Toulouse have traveled to the highest mountains of Mongolia. They are searching for ancient tombs which have remained concealed for centuries under thick layers of snow.

  • Oil Spills

    On 7 December 2007, an oil tanker accident off the coast of South Corea spilled tones of oil into the Yellow Sea. Researchers from ICTA travelled to the site to monitor the progress of the oil spill.

  • Sea turtles in danger

    The majority of sea turtles killed in the Mediterranean Sea fall victim to humans and their fishing devices.   • Heartbeat sensor

    An electronic device developed by researchers of the National Microelectronic Centre will further help to analyse the exact conditions of transplant organs during their transport to hospital. With Microtrans it is possible to monitor the temperature and impedance of organs in real time. The fast and exhaustive analysis of these data is very helpful when operating.
