H2020 activities

TheInternational Research Projects Office organises events to promote the participation of UAB research groups in the new programme, which gives them the opportunity to carry out competitive, innovative and high level research in the international arena.

The International Research Projects Office of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona organised a launch event for the new European programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 under the title “Research and Innovation in Europe: Universities in Horizon 2020”. The event took place in the Conference Hall of the Rectorat on Friday 31 January 2014.

Participants included Octavi Quintana, from the European Commission, Susana Elena-Pérez, from the Joint Research Center, Carmen García Fernández, from the European Research Council and Josep M. Martorell, Director General for Research at the Generalitat de Catalunya, to talk about the role of universities in intelligent specialisation of scientific excellence and international projection.

Research Espresso Workshopso

To coincide with the new European programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020 a series of workshops has been organised to give UAB researcher a regular monthly meeting point to discuss international research and exchange knowledge and experiences.

Researchers are invited to have a coffee together in the "Research Espresso" workshops which take place the first Thursday of every month at 3.30pm in the Study Room at the Plaça Cívica.

The "Research Espresso" workshops offer a meeting point not only for researchers but for the entire university community. All sessions begin at 3.30pm and they are organised as follows: the first 15 minutes are dedicated to networking among the attendees before the main session begins. A guest speaker talks for approximately 30 minutes about a topic of interest related to international research and finally there is an hour for open discussion.
