Introduction

This training course is intended to cover the gap existing in the Faculties of Medicine and School of Nursing and has as a reference, among others, proposes that the Spanish Society of Emergency Medicine and Urgencias (semes). Emergency Assistance and medical emergencies is one of the fields in recent years has experienced greater growth in our country.

The emergencies are a group of symptoms and illnesses that require urgent attention to their severity or their intolerance. The demand for care that is highly motivated and growing in our socioeconomic environment. For its potential severity, and need for speed in the medical response, require well-trained staff.

Generally understood by medical emergency, any situation that allows the patient to ask for assistance without delay. This term may not have the same meaning for the patient or family for personal care. Conversely, to understand medical emergency, also called vital medical emergency, a state in which the victim's vital functions, respiratory or circulatory brain are abolished or severely affected, with serious risk of failure or dysfunction in the short term situation which requires treatment in minutes to restore them.

In order to establish a correct classification in the form and method, will be 'subjectively urgent' when it is sued or al.legats the patient, and 'objectively urgent', after being valued by the health professional responsible for their assistance. This way, you get an objective and systematic problem with varying degrees of severity and complexity. This remarkable distinction of elementary prognosis is particularly important when organizing and categorizing appropriate assistance to each demand, the key point of access to a healthcare system endowed with limited resources.

In principle, the Master will be in Spanish, but if you reach the maximum number of students enrolled will be two groups, one taught in Spanish and one in Catalan.
